Miraculous

The Miraculous Job of a Behavior Interventionist

Behavior Interventionists may also be called Behaviorists, Behavior Interventionist Specialists, or Behavioral Health Technicians. All of these titles represent an interventionist who observes children or adults who have severe behavioral health issues (behavioral analysis) and creates a customized plan and program overview (called an applied behavioral analysis) to help alleviate those behaviors.  Our Behavior Interventionists work in special education classes across the nation.

Sessions can be one on one or in a school group setting, depending on the needs of the students. An individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder, for example, may require more one on one assistance to help them focus on a task at school while others may thrive working with a group.

The interventionist works to provide individuals with coping skills when they are having a behavior issue, to help find techniques to deal with transitions throughout the school day or to assist these individuals with their concentration skills on various tasks. There could be various triggers that cause problematic behavior, and an interventionist is trained to identify these triggers and either help avoid them or work with the individual to get through the behavior.
